The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure About Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.
Social Media Response
Countless users and merchants are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.
It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Changes
Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said.
Required Changes
A different user, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
